The Dijon Clones wine is a nice contrast to the bigger and bolder Hallberg blend, boasting more red fruit, earthiness and spice than its big brother. Aromas of brandied cherries, lavender, roasted beets, pipe tobacco and bay leaf have a mouthwatering effect followed by flavors of savory herbs, fresh mushrooms, orange blossom and just a hint of leather. This wine is showing beautifully in its youth, but the tangy acidity and firm, yet supple tannins give it plenty of aging potential.
Pure and beautifully focused, the Westside Farms Chardonnay opens up with enticing aromas of butterscotch, toasted hazelnuts, and warm baking spices. It seamlessly transitions into a rich, textural palate supported by decadent notes of vanilla, caramel, and zesty lemon-lime. A careful selection of lightly toasted new French oak lends silky tannins that perfectly integrate with an intense minerality and a lingering natural acidity. Densely layered flavors, coupled with a persistent finish, can be attributed to gentle lees stirring as the wine aged in barrel.
