VINEYARD: Just four miles up Westside Road from our winery, Westside Farms sits along the banks of the winding Russian River. The Chardonnay grown here is a particular favorite of ours. The vines were planted in 1989 to Chardonnay Clone 4, and we work closely with the growers on viticultural decisions throughout the growing season. With deep, river-deposited sandy loam soils, the cool evenings prolong the ripening process, yielding consistently elegant, intense fruit.
TASTING NOTES: Pure and beautifully focused, the Westside Farms Chardonnay opens up with enticing aromas of butterscotch, toasted hazelnuts, and warm baking spices. It seamlessly transitions into a rich, textural palate supported by decadent notes of vanilla, caramel, and zesty lemon-lime. A careful selection of lightly toasted new French oak lends silky tannins that perfectly integrate with an intense minerality and a lingering natural acidity. Densely layered flavors, coupled with a persistent finish, can be attributed to gentle lees stirring as the wine aged in barrel.
