2018 Olivet Lane Vineyard Pinot Noir

2018 Olivet Lane Vineyard Pinot Noir

Appellation
Russian River Valley

Tasting Notes
This wine is a beautiful offering from the Russian River Valley, with enticing aromas of black cherry, exotic fruits, dried flower petals, allspice and fresh cedar. The texture is soft and silky, while the palate boasts succulent and complex flavors of bright red cherry, pomegranate and rhubarb chutney. Finishes with mouthwatering acidity, velvety tannins and earthy, savory flavors of Darjeeling tea, Thyme and sweet tobacco.
Vineyard Notes
In 1973, the Pellegrini family purchased a 70-acre apple and plum orchard on West Olivet Road in Santa Rosa. This land was planted to 20 acres of Pinot Noir and 40 acres of Chardonnay in 1975 and is one of the oldest existing Pinot Noir vineyards in the Russian River Valley. The vineyard sits on 65 acres of sloping benchland in the Santa Rosa Plain neighborhood, in between the warmer Westside Road region and the cooler Green Valley, where warm summer days are moderated by cool breezes and chilly evening temperatures. The combination of low temperatures, regular fog intrusion and well-drained loam, clay soils create an excellent environment for growing Pinot Noirs that develop cool-climate characteristics and impeccable acidity. The cool climate creates an extended growing season and the wines simultaneously express power and finesse, with tremendous balance.
